Artist Residency Art´n Fiber®

MEMBER OF

Katharina Gahlert

The recipient of the

Art´n Fiber® Residency Fellowship 2025

Motivation of the selection committee:

We are pleased to announce textile/fiber artist Katharina Gahlert, Germany, the recipient of the Art ́n Fiber® residency grant of 2025.

Among the many well-qualified applicants, Gahlert was selected because of the exciting variety of works, performance and conceptual thinking that characterizes her body of work.

Based on textiles, 3D implementation, recurring elements, rhythm and patterns, she creates a unified flow that reflects the dialogue between time and gesture. Adding earth, ceramic elements, and wood she revives textiles in new contexts arousing interest and reflections.

Gahlert is influenced by postmodernist philosophy and established ecofeminist thinking. With her themes she wants to illustrate the inner and outer landscape of the ongoing dynamic interaction between man and matter.

In connection with her stay, Gahlert will give an artist talk at Uppsala Art Museum and lead a workshop in the residency studio. The workshop illustrates her artistic expression and conceptual thinking.

We are looking forward to the stay, and the opportunity to take part in and be inspired by Katharina Gahlert's artistry!
