September 27, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Quilt Academy residence studio:
Kandice Kardell leads a workshop on topic "Plant-based Cyanotype"
The term refers to image composition involving the transfer of motifs onto fabric using natural or chemically induced ultraviolet effects. In common textile contexts, the nature-based version is mostly named "sun printing." Plant material from the surrounding Nordic nature is applied for the composition and the color palette of the artworks. This is complemented by experiments with dyes extracted from algae from the Mediterranean surroundings supplied by the artist.
The event is free of charge, the number of participants is limited. Ahead of the workshop participants will receive an e-mail with necessary information and a list of required supplies .
